Meeto vs Digital Samba Embedded

Meeto vs Digital Samba Embedded: video calls for your site

Choose Digital Samba Embedded if data must stay in the EU, calls need up to 2,000 people or branding must go: 10,000 free minutes a month, then €99 a month. Choose Meeto for small calls without a server or a usage bill: its widget is free on every plan, up to 10 people (25 on Pro), and the Meeto badge always stays.

Should you choose Meeto or Digital Samba Embedded?

Choose Meeto if

  • Small calls from your site at no cost, without watching a monthly minute quota.
  • You want a snippet, a WordPress plugin or React, Vue and Angular packages, with no server.
  • You want packaged iOS and Android SDKs for the same widget.
  • A visible “Powered by Meeto” badge is acceptable.

Choose Digital Samba Embedded if

  • Your data must stay in the EU on European-owned infrastructure.
  • Calls can exceed 25 people, or you need recording and AI transcription through an API.
  • You need to remove the vendor's branding from the call.

Where does the call data go?

For many European buyers this decides the choice before price does. Digital Samba states that its service is hosted entirely in the EU on European-owned infrastructure, with no transfer to US-owned clouds.

Meeto works differently, and you should know how before you embed it:

  • Every call runs through Meeto's media servers; each room is placed in the nearer of two regions, Europe or South-East Asia. Media is encrypted in transit with WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP); it is not end-to-end encrypted.
  • Meeto stores no audio or video from a widget call unless a host on a paid Meeto plan turns on recording or AI summary; meeting metadata such as times and participant counts is kept as the privacy policy describes.
  • Meeto is operated by KeepFlow L.L.C-FZ in Dubai, U.A.E. Its providers include Cloudflare for delivery and storage, and data moved out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland relies on Standard Contractual Clauses.

If your data protection officer requires EU-only processing, Digital Samba fits that requirement and Meeto does not. Otherwise, read the privacy policy and the security overview, then try the widget on a test page.

What Meeto does not do

Meeto is built for small meetings that start from a link, a booking page or a website button. Paid plans hold up to 25 participants, and Meeto does not offer:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Webinars or livestreaming
  • Breakout rooms
  • Polls
  • Phone dial-in
  • SSO / SAML single sign-on
  • Live captions over the call video

If any of these is a requirement, test it in Digital Samba Embedded or another tool first. The full Meeto limits are on the pricing page and the security overview.

Frequently asked questions

Is Digital Samba Embedded free?

Its free plan includes 10,000 participation minutes a month without a credit card; it is a hard cap, so calls stop until the quota resets or you upgrade. Meeto's widget has no minute allowance: limits apply per call, 60 minutes and 10 people on a Free account.

Which one keeps data in the EU?

Digital Samba says its data stays in Europe on European-owned infrastructure. Meeto does not offer that guarantee: rooms run on media servers in Europe or South-East Asia, and Meeto, based in the U.A.E., uses providers in several countries under standard contractual safeguards.

Can I remove the branding?

On Digital Samba's paid plans, yes; its free tier keeps the branding visible. On Meeto, no: the “Powered by Meeto” badge stays on every plan.

Does Digital Samba have native mobile SDKs?

Digital Samba's page says its SDK works in mobile browsers and most webviews and points to Android and iOS reference apps. Meeto ships iOS and Android SDK packages, which wrap the same widget in a WebView with a typed event bridge.
