Meeto vs Fathom

Meeto vs Fathom: AI notetaker or AI summary in the call

Choose Fathom if your calls stay on Zoom, Google Meet or Teams: its free plan records and transcribes them without a limit, with instant summaries, and Premium costs $20 a month. Choose Meeto if you also want the meeting itself: its AI summary is built into Meeto's own calls, no bot joins, on Pro at $6.99 a month with 10 hours included.

Should you choose Meeto or Fathom?

Choose Meeto if

  • You are picking the meeting tool itself and want the notes inside it, with no bot joining.
  • Guests should join from a browser link, with no account or app.
  • Your policy rules out vendors that improve their own models on de-identified customer data.
  • You want meetings, recording and summaries for $6.99 a month in one account.

Choose Fathom if

  • Your meetings happen on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
  • You want free AI notes: Fathom's free plan includes recordings and summaries, Meeto's free plan neither.
  • You also want notes from Slack huddles or in-person conversations on an iPhone.

What does each company do with your meetings for AI?

The two policies differ in one place: whether the vendor improves its own models with your data.

  • Fathom says it uses de-identified customer data to improve the accuracy of its own AI models, and that you can opt out in your settings (Team Edition admins can opt out the whole account). Its AI sub-processors are contractually barred from training on users' data.
  • Meeto does not use meeting content to train AI models. Transcripts and summaries are produced by OpenAI and Google under a no-training commitment, as listed in the privacy policy.

If your clients or employer set rules for AI processing, check the opt-out before the first recorded call with Fathom, and read Meeto's security overview before you switch. On Meeto the AI summary runs only when the host turns it on, and everyone in the call is shown that it is running.

What Meeto does not do

Meeto is built for small meetings that start from a link, a booking page or a website button. Paid plans hold up to 25 participants, and Meeto does not offer:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Webinars or livestreaming
  • Breakout rooms
  • Polls
  • Phone dial-in
  • SSO / SAML single sign-on
  • Live captions over the call video

If any of these is a requirement, test it in Fathom or another tool first. The full Meeto limits are on the pricing page and the security overview.

Frequently asked questions

Is Fathom really free?

Fathom's free plan offers unlimited recordings and transcription with instant AI call summaries; advanced summaries and AI action items are on its paid Premium plan. Meeto's free plan has no AI summary or recording at all.

Can Fathom record a Meeto meeting?

Fathom's notetaker joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and also captures Slack huddles and, with its iOS app, in-person conversations; Meeto is not on that list and has no Fathom integration. Calls held on Meeto have their own AI summary on the paid plans.

Is Meeto cheaper than Fathom?

For one person, Meeto Pro costs $6.99 a month and includes the video meetings; Fathom Premium costs $20 a month billed monthly and works with the meeting tool you already pay for. If you only need notes, Fathom's free plan costs nothing.

Does Fathom train AI on my calls?

Fathom says it uses de-identified customer data to improve its own AI models, that you can opt out in your settings, and that its AI sub-processors may not train on users' data. Meeto does not use meeting content to train AI models.
