Free video meetings for nonprofits, volunteers and community groups

A nonprofit can run volunteer briefings, board meetings and community calls on Meeto's Free plan: up to 10 people, calls under an hour, guests in a browser without accounts, and recurring meetings with reminder emails. Longer or larger meetings need one Pro host. Meeto has no webinars, phone dial-in or breakout rooms, and publishes no nonprofit discount.

What can a nonprofit run on the Free plan?

Most small-group meetings fit Free. The two limits to plan around are 10 participants and 60 minutes per call once 2 people are in it.

Typical nonprofit meetings and the plan they need
MeetingPlan and setup
Volunteer briefing before an eventFree: an instant or scheduled meeting for up to 10 people, under an hour
Weekly coordinators' check-inFree: a recurring series with one link and reminder emails
Monthly board meeting over an hourOne Pro host: no time limit, up to 25 participants
One-to-one volunteer intake or mentoringFree: a booking page with 1 meeting type and 1 connected calendar
Minutes with decisions and action itemsPro or Team: AI summary, 10 hours a month

An instant meeting's link expires after the free hour; scheduled and booking links stay reusable. For a meeting people return to, schedule it rather than reusing an instant link. The Free plan page explains the limits in detail.

How do you set up a monthly board meeting?

Schedule it once for the board year as a recurring series, send the agenda with the invitation and keep minutes after each meeting.

  1. Pick the rule. A monthly rule such as “on the second Tuesday”, ending after 12 meetings, covers a board year. Every meeting uses the same link.
  2. Invite the board. Add members by email. Each gets an invitation with the dates in words and a calendar file, and answers once for the whole series.
  3. Choose the reminders. One day before gives people time to read papers; one hour before brings the join link to the top of their inbox. Anyone can stop reminders for the series and stay invited.
  4. Run it from the chair. Use mute all during presentations, ask members to raise a hand to speak, and share the budget or report on screen.
  5. Keep minutes. On Pro, the AI summary lists decisions and action items with a transcript. Treat it as a draft: the board still approves the minutes. Copy them into the minutes template if you keep a standard format.

If a meeting moves, move that one date from the series panel; members get an update for that date only.

Is it easy for volunteers to join?

Yes. Volunteers open a link in a browser and join, with no account and no download.

Any device

A current browser on a computer or phone is enough. Apps for iPhone and Android are optional. The browser joining guide is worth sending before the first call.

Their language

The Meeto interface is available in 42 languages. Invitation and reminder emails are in English.

Weak connections

Quality steps down automatically on a weak network, down to audio only if needed, and recovers. Noise suppression is on by default on desktops.

Safe open calls

Knock entry, a password, lock entry and remove give the host control of who is in the room.

Who this is not for

Meeto is made for small meetings. It does not fit:

  • annual meetings, fundraising events or webinars with more than 25 people, or livestreams;
  • members who can only join by phone: there is no phone dial-in;
  • formal votes that need polls or anonymous ballots, or workshops that need breakout rooms;
  • organizations that need SSO or SAML sign-in;
  • calls that rely on captions shown on top of the video: Meeto has none today.

Frequently asked questions

Does Meeto offer a nonprofit discount?

The pricing page does not list a nonprofit discount. The Free plan costs nothing for any organization, and Pro is $6.99 a month or $69 a year per host, so a group often needs only one or two paid hosts.

Who needs Pro for a long board meeting?

Only the person who hosts it. The one-hour limit follows the host's plan, so a Pro host's meeting has no time limit (for up to 2 simultaneous meetings), while board members join for free from their own browsers.

How do we keep uninvited visitors out of a public community call?

Use knock entry so the host approves each person, or a password you share with members only. The host can lock entry once the call has started and remove anyone; a removed person cannot rejoin that meeting.

Can members who are deaf or hard of hearing follow the call?

Partly. Live captions over the call video are not available. When a Pro host starts the AI summary and shares it with everyone in the call, participants can open the live transcript on the meeting page, which is the closest substitute today. Chat is available too.
