Meeto vs Microsoft Teams
Meeto vs Microsoft Teams: free limits, prices and features
Microsoft Teams fits organisations on Microsoft 365: its free plan holds 100 people for 60-minute group meetings, and Teams Essentials costs $4 per user a month, paid yearly, for up to 300. Meeto fits small client calls: 10 people free for 60 minutes, then $6.99 a month for 25, with booking pages and AI summaries included. Teams has breakout rooms and webinars; Meeto does not.
Meeto vs Microsoft Teams: the facts side by side
| Question | Meeto | Microsoft Teams |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan: meeting length | 60 minutes once two or more people are in the call, one-on-one included | 60 minutes for group meetings; for one-on-one calls Microsoft's pages say 30 hours in one place and 60 minutes in another[1][2] |
| Free plan: people per meeting | Up to 10 | Up to 100[3] |
| Cheapest paid plan | Pro: $6.99/month or $69/year per host, no time limit, up to 25 people | Microsoft Teams Essentials: $4/user/month on an annual subscription, up to 300 people[4][5][6] |
| Guests: account or download needed | Neither: guests join from the link in a browser; the iOS and Android apps are optional | Neither: people without a Teams account can join from a web browser[7][8] |
| Cloud recording | Pro and Team; media kept 90 days, with a transcript and AI summary | Not in Teams free; included with Teams Essentials and business licenses[9] |
| AI meeting summaries | Included in Pro and Team, 10 hours a month, inside Meeto calls | Intelligent recap needs a Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot license[10] |
| Booking page | Built in: 1 meeting type free, 50 on Pro; each booking gets its own meeting | Through the separate Microsoft Bookings app on business plans[11] |
| Breakout rooms and webinars | Not offered | Breakout rooms in meetings; webinars and town halls as Teams events[12][13] |
| End-to-end encryption | No — WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP) encryption in transit | Needs Teams Premium for the organizer, not in the web client, and turns off recording and transcription[14] |
Prices are in USD for monthly billing unless a row says otherwise. Plans change: each Microsoft Teams figure links to the page it came from, so you can check it before you decide.
Should you choose Meeto or Microsoft Teams?
Choose Meeto if
- You meet clients rather than colleagues, and want the booking page, the call and its notes in one account instead of Teams plus Bookings plus a Premium license.
- AI summaries and transcripts should come with a $6.99 plan, not a separate Premium or Copilot license.
- You pay month to month: Meeto Pro is monthly or yearly, while Teams Essentials lists an annual subscription only.
- Your team does not run on Microsoft 365 and does not want to manage Microsoft accounts.
Choose Microsoft Teams if
- Meetings regularly have more than 25 people (Teams Essentials holds up to 300).
- You need breakout rooms, webinars or town halls, or end-to-end encrypted meetings (with Teams Premium).
- Your company already works in Microsoft 365, with chat, files and meetings in one place.
- You want the lowest price per user and can pay a year ahead: $4 a month on an annual subscription.
Can you keep Teams for colleagues and use Meeto for clients?
Yes. Teams stays the internal workspace, and client-facing calls start from a Meeto link or booking page. A client opens the link in any browser, with no Microsoft or Meeto account, and you get the recording and AI summary next to that meeting on Pro.
- Check your calendar first. Meeto's booking page reads busy times from a Google or Apple (CalDAV) calendar. It cannot read a Microsoft 365 or Outlook calendar: if your schedule lives there, the booking page will not see those busy times, so keep Microsoft Bookings for that calendar or move client scheduling to Google or Apple.
- Connect the calendar you use. The Google Calendar integration hides busy times and adds each booking to your calendar.
- Test the guest path. Open a Meeto link in a private browser window and on a phone; that is what your client sees.
- Count the people. Meeto holds 10 people on Free and 25 on paid plans. Larger internal meetings stay in Teams.
What Meeto does not do
Meeto is built for small meetings that start from a link, a booking page or a website button. Paid plans hold up to 25 participants, and Meeto does not offer:
- End-to-end encryption
- Webinars or livestreaming
- Breakout rooms
- Polls
- Phone dial-in
- SSO / SAML single sign-on
- Live captions over the call video
If any of these is a requirement, test it in Microsoft Teams or another tool first. The full Meeto limits are on the pricing page and the security overview.

Frequently asked questions
Is Microsoft Teams free?
Yes. The Teams free plan allows group meetings of up to 60 minutes with up to 100 participants, but no meeting recordings. Meeto's free plan allows 10 people for 60 minutes and adds a booking page; it does not record either.
How long can a free Teams meeting last?
Group meetings on Teams free stop at 60 minutes. For one-on-one calls Microsoft's own pages disagree: one says up to 30 hours, another 60 minutes. On Meeto Free the 60-minute timer starts when a second person joins, so it applies to one-on-one calls too.
Is Teams Essentials cheaper than Meeto Pro?
Per user, yes: Teams Essentials is $4 a month, paid as an annual subscription, and holds up to 300 people. Meeto Pro is $6.99 a month or $69 a year for up to 25 people, and it includes AI summaries that Teams sells as Premium or Copilot.
Can a client join a Teams or Meeto meeting without an account?
Yes, both: Teams lets people without a Teams account join from a web browser, and Meeto never asks a guest to sign in or install anything. Meeto also lets anyone start an instant meeting without an account.
