Meeto vs tl;dv
Meeto vs tl;dv: AI meeting notes inside the call or by bot
Choose tl;dv if your meetings stay on Google Meet, Zoom or Teams: its bot records them on video for free, with full AI notes for the first 10 meetings, and Pro is €29 a seat. Choose Meeto to hold the meetings too: its AI summary runs inside Meeto's own calls, on Pro at $6.99 a month with 10 hours monthly.
Meeto vs tl;dv: the facts side by side
| Question | Meeto | tl;dv |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | No AI summary or recording; free calls hold 10 people for 60 minutes | Unlimited recordings and transcription; full AI notes on the first 10 meetings of the account, then on the first 10 minutes of each[1][2] |
| Cheapest paid plan | Pro: $6.99/month or $69/year, video meetings included, 10 hours of AI summary a month | Pro: €29 per seat billed monthly; tl;dv also quotes "from $18 a month"[3][4][5][6] |
| Hosts its own video calls | Yes: browser calls and iOS and Android apps | No; it records calls held on other platforms[7] |
| How it captures a meeting | The host turns on AI summary inside the Meeto call; no extra participant joins, and everyone sees an indicator and a notice | A tl;dv bot joins Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams calls; a bot-free desktop app records system audio only[8] |
| Meeting apps it works with | Meeto calls only; no bot for Zoom, Google Meet or Teams | Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams[9] |
| Transcription languages | Detected for each speaker, so mixed-language meetings work; the summary is written in the meeting's main language | 30+ languages[10] |
| AI summary | Summary, key points, decisions, action items and a transcript with speaker names; export as Markdown, plain text, PDF summary | Unlimited meetings with AI notes on Pro[11] |
| Video recording | Pro and Team: MP4 plus separate audio, media kept 90 days; transcript and summary kept until you delete them | The bot records video on all plans including Free; bot-free desktop recording is audio only[12] |
| AI training on your meetings | Meeting content is not used to train AI models | tl;dv states recordings and transcripts are never used to train AI[13] |

Should you choose Meeto or tl;dv?
Choose Meeto if
- You are choosing where to hold your meetings as well as how to take notes on them.
- You want AI summaries every month on a paid plan, not a one-time free allowance: 10 hours on Meeto Pro.
- Guests should join from a browser link without an account, and no bot should join the call.
- You want the meeting, recording and summary for $6.99 a month in one account.
Choose tl;dv if
- Your meetings take place on Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- You want free video recordings of those meetings; Meeto records only on paid plans.
- You want a recorder that can join meetings you do not attend yourself.
How far do 10 hours of AI summary go?
Meeto Pro includes 10 hours of AI summary a month, counted by the time the summary runs, and the allowance renews every month. That is 600 minutes, or roughly:
- 20 half-hour meetings a month;
- 13 meetings of 45 minutes;
- 10 one-hour meetings.
When the hours run out, Meeto still produces a full transcript and a basic summary for each meeting until the allowance renews. Each paid Team seat has its own allowance.
tl;dv's free plan works the other way round: full AI notes for the first 10 meetings of an account, once, then notes on the first 10 minutes of each later meeting. Its paid plans lift that limit. If you hold more than a few long meetings a week on Meet, Zoom or Teams, budget for tl;dv's paid plan; if they happen on Meeto, see Meeto's plans and the AI summary overview.
What Meeto does not do
Meeto is built for small meetings that start from a link, a booking page or a website button. Paid plans hold up to 25 participants, and Meeto does not offer:
- End-to-end encryption
- Webinars or livestreaming
- Breakout rooms
- Polls
- Phone dial-in
- SSO / SAML single sign-on
- Live captions over the call video
If any of these is a requirement, test it in tl;dv or another tool first. The full Meeto limits are on the pricing page and the security overview.

Frequently asked questions
Is tl;dv free?
Yes. tl;dv's free plan records and transcribes without a limit on the number of meetings, but only the first 10 meetings of an account get full AI notes; after that, AI notes cover the first 10 minutes of each meeting. The limit does not reset monthly.
Does Meeto have a free AI note-taker?
No. Meeto's free plan includes video meetings for up to 10 people but no AI summary or recording. AI summary starts on Pro at $6.99 a month, with 10 hours included every month.
Which one records video for free?
tl;dv: its bot records video on every plan, the free one included. Meeto records video only on Pro and Team, and keeps the media for 90 days.
Can tl;dv join a Meeto call?
tl;dv's bot joins Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and Meeto has no tl;dv integration; tl;dv's bot-free desktop app records system audio only. Calls held on Meeto have their own AI summary on the paid plans, so there is no bot to add.
