Meeting transcription

Meeting transcripts with speaker names, in several languages

Meeto writes a transcript of a video meeting with each line under the name of the person who said it, and detects the language phrase by phrase, so a meeting in two or three languages is transcribed as it was spoken. You can follow it live during the call, then search it and export it afterwards. Transcription comes with the AI summary on Pro and Team.

How do you transcribe a Meeto meeting?

The host presses Start AI Summary during the call. The transcript and the summary start together, from that moment on.

  1. Choose who gets it afterwards: Everyone in the call, or Only me. With Only me, nobody else can open the transcript, even with a link.
  2. Everyone is told. Each participant sees that the host started an AI Summary, a chime plays, and an indicator stays on while it runs. Ask for consent where the people or the law require it.
  3. Follow along live. Open the AI Summary panel and switch to Transcript to read the lines as they come, each with a name and a time.
  4. Stop it, or let it stop. Press Stop AI Summary, or end the meeting; it also stops when the room empties.

Starting a recording starts the transcript too. Without a recording, only the audio is processed and no video is kept. Live captions over the call video are not offered: the transcript lives in the panel and on the meeting page, not on top of the picture.

How does Meeto know who said what?

Each participant's microphone is transcribed separately, so every line carries the name that person joined with. Nothing has to guess voices from one mixed recording.

  • Names from the call. A guest who joined as "Anna" appears as Anna. Ask people to use their real names when the transcript matters.
  • No doubled lines. When two microphones in one room pick up the same sentence, it is kept once.
  • Screen-share sound is left out. A video played through a shared screen does not end up in the transcript.
  • Rebuilt parts. If part of a meeting is rebuilt from the mixed audio afterwards, those lines show as Speaker 1 instead of a name.

Can Meeto transcribe a meeting in more than one language?

Yes. You do not choose a language in advance: Meeto detects it for every phrase and follows each speaker separately, so one person can speak Spanish while another answers in English.

Each line keeps the language it was spoken in, and when a speaker switches language mid-meeting the transcript starts a new line. The speech model covers about 100 languages; accuracy differs from one language to another. The summary is written in the language most of the meeting was held in and also covers what was said in the others. The interface itself is available in 42 languages.

How do you search, export and share a transcript?

Open the meeting from your account. The transcript sits next to the summary, with a search box that filters the lines as you type.

Export

Copy the text, or download it as Markdown, plain text or PDF summary. Markdown and text files keep a time and a name on every line; the PDF is a summary sheet rather than the full transcript.

Share

Turn on a share link and choose when it expires: never, in 7 days, in 30 days or on a date. Switch sharing off at any time and the link stops working.

Delete

Delete meeting materials removes the transcript, the summary and any recording together. The old link then says the recording was deleted.

Search works inside one meeting's transcript; there is no search across all meetings. For what the summary contains, see AI meeting summary.

Frequently asked questions

Is meeting transcription free?

No. Starting a transcript needs a Pro account ($6.99/month) or a paid Team seat ($11.99/seat/month). Guests in the call do not need a plan, and the host decides whether they can read the transcript.

Can Meeto transcribe a Zoom, Google Meet or Teams meeting?

No. Transcription works only inside Meeto calls. Meeto does not send a bot into meetings on other platforms.

Does transcription record video?

No. A transcript started with Start AI Summary captures audio only. Video is recorded only if the host starts a recording, which also starts the transcript.

Is my meeting used to train AI models?

No. Meeting content is not used to train AI models. The audio is processed to produce the transcript and the summary.

How accurate is the transcript?

Clear audio and one person speaking at a time give the best results, and accuracy differs between languages. Check names, numbers and decisions before you share a transcript as a record.
