Meeting recording
Record a video meeting and keep the conversation useful
Capture a browser meeting when the team needs to revisit a decision, share a lesson or hand a support conversation to a colleague. Meeto puts consent, paid-plan limits and retention in view before you publish a recording.
A recording flow people can understand
1. The host starts capture
During a meeting, an eligible Pro or Team host chooses recording from the room controls. The host can choose the supported capture scope for the call.
2. Everyone sees the indicator
Recording is opt-in and visibly marked while it runs. A participant can ask the host to stop, and the host controls whether the capture continues.
3. The material becomes a recap
After processing, the recording is available to the owner in the meeting cabinet. Keep the link within the audience that had a right to see the conversation.
Recording is separate from a normal browser call. A guest can join without an account, while the paid host account owns the capture workflow. Read the recording and consent terms before recording clients, classes or interviews.
Current recording limits
These limits come from the reviewed product facts. Plan entitlements can change, so check the pricing page when setting expectations for a customer.
| Capability | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Eligible plans | Pro ($6.99/month) and Team ($11.99/seat/month) |
| Free plan | Cloud recording is not included |
| Consent | Opt-in with a visible recording indicator |
| Initial capture deadline | 4 hours |
| Extension | 4 additional hours in the final 10 minutes |
| Default retention | 90 days |
| Media encryption | WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP) encryption in transit |
Meeto uses WebRTC DTLS-SRTP encryption in transit. A recording is not described as end-to-end encrypted because the media is processed by the capture service. See the privacy overview for the exact data handling language.
Before you press record
- Tell people what will be captured. Explain why the recording is needed and who can access it.
- Check the plan and deadline. Confirm that the host is on Pro or Team and watch for the final ten-minute extension window.
- Use the smallest useful scope. Record the people and portion of the call needed for the stated purpose.
- Share carefully. Treat a recording link as meeting material. Delete it when it is no longer needed and follow your own retention policy.
For a meeting that needs searchable notes instead of a video file, compare AI meeting summaries. For an integration or custom meeting surface, use the developer documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I record a Meeto meeting for free?
Cloud recording requires a paid host. Free meetings can use the browser call features, but recording is not included on the Free plan. Pro and Team hosts can start a recording from the meeting controls.
Do participants know when a meeting is recorded?
Yes. Recording is opt-in and Meeto shows a visible recording indicator. The host should obtain the consent required for the people and jurisdictions involved before capturing a call.
How long is a Meeto recording kept?
The current default recording retention is 90 days. A host can review or delete meeting material from the account before it expires. Retention settings and legal obligations still apply; see the privacy and terms pages for the complete wording.
Can a recording run for more than four hours?
A recording starts with a 4-hour capture deadline. When the warning appears, the host can request one 4-hour extension during the final 10 minutes if the recording is still active.
