Client calls and booking for freelancers, from discovery to handoff

Freelancers can use one Meeto booking page for discovery calls, review work on a shared screen that clients can draw on, and keep regular check-ins as a recurring series with reminder emails. Clients join in a browser without an account. Free covers one meeting type and calls under an hour; Pro adds longer calls, more meeting types and AI notes.

How does Meeto fit a freelance project?

Use a booking page to start the relationship, scheduled meetings to keep it moving and screen sharing to review the work itself.

Meeto across the stages of a client project
StageHow to run it
DiscoveryA “30-minute project intro” on your booking page, with two or three booking-form questions such as deadline and a link to the brief
Proposal walkthroughA scheduled meeting where you share the proposal and answer questions on the spot
Check-insA recurring series, weekly or every two weeks, that ends on the project deadline; the client gets a reminder before each one
ReviewsShare the design, draft or staging site and let the client mark what should change
HandoffA last meeting and a written follow-up listing what was delivered and what happens next

Each booking gets its own meeting link, so two clients never share a room. Recurring check-ins use one link for every date, which is easy to pin in a shared project document. The scheduling guide shows both paths.

How do you run a review call that ends with clear changes?

Share the work, let the client mark what they mean, and read the list of changes back before you hang up.

  1. Prepare the view. Open the draft, design or staging page in its own window and close everything else. Sharing one window keeps other clients' work off screen; share the whole screen only when you need menus or pop-ups to show.
  2. Hand the client the pen. While you share, the client can draw on your screen with a pen, rectangles, ellipses, arrows and text. “Move this” with an arrow is clearer than “the thing on the left”. Clear the marks between topics so the next comment starts on a clean screen.
  3. Keep one list of changes. Type each requested change into a shared document as it comes up, or rely on the AI summary on Pro: its action items list who does what, and the transcript keeps the client's exact wording.
  4. Read the list back. Before the call ends, go through the changes, separate “must have” from “nice to have”, and agree on when the next version arrives.
  5. Send it in writing. Follow up the same day with the agreed changes and the date of the next review. The follow-up email template has a client version.

The screen sharing guide explains the choice between a screen, a window and a browser tab.

How do you keep client calls from eating your working day?

Give clients only the hours you want to spend on calls. The booking page enforces the rules for you.

Call hours, not office hours

Set working hours that cover only your call windows, for example two afternoons a week, and leave the rest of the week for focused work.

Buffers and limits

Add a buffer after each call for notes, a minimum notice so nobody books you an hour ahead, and a daily limit on bookings.

Calendar-aware slots

Connect a Google or Apple calendar so personal events and existing commitments block your availability automatically.

Self-serve changes

Clients get links to reschedule or cancel on their own, and see slots in their own time zone, which helps with clients abroad.

For an urgent question between meetings, start an instant meeting and send the link. Clients who have a Meeto account can also be added as contacts and called directly, like a phone call.

Is the Free plan enough for a freelancer?

Free is enough to test the workflow and to take short intro calls. Most freelancers who meet clients every week move to Pro for the time limit and the extra meeting types.

Free and Pro for freelance work
PlanWhat you get
Free1 meeting type, 1 connected calendar, up to 10 participants; a call stops after 60 minutes once 2 people are in it; no recording or AI summary
Pro$6.99/month or $69/year: 50 meeting types, 5 calendars, up to 25 participants, no time limit for up to 2 simultaneous meetings
AI notes on Pro10 hours a month of summaries with decisions and action items, exportable as Markdown, plain text or PDF
Recording on ProVideo and audio kept 90 days; everyone in the call sees when recording starts

The AI summary is useful in reviews: the action items list the changes the client asked for, and you can paste the Markdown export straight into your project tracker. Check the summary before you send it, because it can miss context. See AI meeting summaries.

Who this is not for

Meeto covers the calls and the scheduling around them. It does not run the business side of freelancing. It is not the right tool if you need:

  • deposits or payment at the time of booking. Meeto does not take payment at booking;
  • invoices, contracts, e-signatures or time tracking;
  • a calendar other than Google or Apple: only those two connect today;
  • workshops or launches for more than 25 people, or webinars.

Freelancers who sell a defined service may also want the sales consultation workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own name in the booking link?

Yes. Every Meeto account gets a personal address in the form meeto.me/yourname, and that address is also your booking page. Put it in your email signature, portfolio or proposal so clients can pick a time without a back-and-forth.

Can a client point at something on my screen?

Yes. When you share a screen, people in the call can draw on top of it with a pen, shapes, arrows and text, so a client can circle the button or paragraph they mean. You can turn drawing off if you would rather present without interruptions.

Can I send new bookings to my own tools?

On Pro, personal webhooks send events such as booking.created, booking.rescheduled, booking.cancelled, meeting.ended, recap.ready to an address you control, and the REST API can read and create meetings. Free has neither.

What if a client prefers their own video tool?

Join their meeting in their tool. Meeto's AI summary works only inside Meeto calls, so it cannot take notes in a meeting held elsewhere; there is no bot that joins other platforms.
