Share the source
Choose a screen or window from the browser's sharing picker. Participants see the shared frame inside the room while your camera can remain available.
Open annotation tools
The presenter opens the drawing tools from the meeting controls. The overlay follows the visible frame even when participants resize their windows.
Discuss and clear
Point to a detail, add a label or mark a region, then erase individual marks or clear the layer when the next topic starts.
Annotations are synchronized room data, not a permanent edit to the original file. For a design review, keep the source file in its normal workspace and use the call layer to guide the conversation.

The presenter can allow or restrict participant drawing. This is useful when a teacher wants students to mark the same diagram, or when support staff need to keep a customer conversation focused. The current Free meeting includes these tools; check plan limits before scheduling a large session.
Four habits that make annotations useful
- Share a readable source. Increase the size of small text before presenting a dense document or code window.
- Use one mark for one idea. Circle, label or point, then clear the layer before switching topics.
- Name who should draw. Keep participant drawing disabled for a demonstration and enable it for a collaborative exercise.
- Keep a source copy. Live marks help the conversation; export decisions to your normal project, ticket or lesson notes afterward.
Guests can join from a current browser without an account. If participants cannot share or see a screen, review browser permissions and network guidance in support. To put the call on your own site, use the video call widget.

Frequently asked questions
Can everyone draw on a shared screen in Meeto?
The person sharing controls whether other participants can draw. The sharer can always annotate, and participants can add their own marks when annotation permission is enabled for the room.
Which annotation tools are available?
Meeto supports a pen, rectangle, ellipse, arrow, text and eraser over the shared screen. Each participant's live work is synchronized to the room, and the sharer can clear the shared annotation layer.
Does screen sharing with annotations work on the Free plan?
Yes. The current Free meeting experience includes screen sharing with annotations, subject to the Free plan's participant and call-duration limits. See the free meetings and pricing pages for those limits.
Are annotations included in a recording?
Annotations are a live layer over the shared screen. If the host records an eligible meeting, test the exact layout you need and review the resulting material before promising how every annotation will appear in a recording.
