Join as a guest

How to join a video call without an account

Open the meeting link in your browser, type your name in Your name, allow the camera and microphone and select Join meeting. Meeto asks guests for nothing else: no account, no email, no download. On a phone the same link works in the mobile browser. Some rooms ask you to knock or enter a password first.

How do I join a Meeto meeting as a guest?

Click the link and fill in one field. The lobby you land on is the whole joining process.

  1. Open the link. Meeto links look like meeto.me/misty-fox-42. Open it in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari browser on a computer or phone; there is nothing to install and no sign-up page. A personal page such as meeto.me/anna is a booking page for picking a time, not a meeting room.
  2. Type your name. The lobby shows the meeting title, who invited you and a camera preview labelled This is how others see you. Enter the name others should see in Your name; the Join button stays unavailable until the field has a name.
  3. Allow your devices. Choose Allow when the browser asks for the camera and microphone. The two buttons under the preview turn each device on or off before you go in, so you can join with the camera off.
  4. Check the sound. Open Device settings to pick the microphone, camera and speakers, and press Test sound to hear a chime. Safari and iPhone play through the system output instead of offering a speaker list.
  5. Select Join meeting. You are in. If the host approves each guest, the button reads Knock to enter and you join automatically when they let you in; a password room asks for the Room password first. Meeto remembers your name, microphone and camera for the next call on the same browser, as the lobby's own hint says: “No sign-up, no install”.

What if the room asks me to knock or for a password?

The host decides how guests get in. You will see one of three lobbies; none of them asks for an account.

Entry modes a guest can meet
What the lobby showsWhat to do
Join meetingThe room is open. Select the button and you are in the call.
Knock to enterThe host approves each guest. Select it; the lobby says Knocking — waiting for the host and you join automatically once they select Let in. Stop knocking cancels.
Room passwordType the password the host gave you, then select Join meeting. Links copied by the host from the meeting usually carry the key, so you may never see this field.
Starts and a timeThe meeting is scheduled for later. Wait, or use Already started? Join now if the host is already there.

If the host declines, the lobby says The host declined your knock. You can knock again or message the host. The host side is described in how to use a waiting room.

What can I do in the call without an account?

Almost everything a participant needs. A guest can talk, share a screen from a computer, draw on a shared screen, chat, react and raise a hand. Recording and AI Summary are started only by a host on a paid plan, and everyone in the call sees an indicator while they run.

Meeting size

A meeting holds up to 10 people when the host is on Free and up to 25 on Pro or Team. A full room says the participant limit has been reached.

Meeting length

On a free host's meeting, the call ends after 60 minutes once two or more people are in it, with a warning before the end.

Chat and files

Chat messages are deleted when the meeting ends. Copy anything you need to keep before you leave.

If you want to host your own meetings later, you can start one from the home page without an account too. An account adds scheduled meetings with email invitations, contacts and a booking page.

What if I cannot join?

  • No camera or microphone. Follow the camera and microphone guide. The lobby tells you when another app, such as another meeting app, is holding the camera or microphone.
  • Joining never finishes. Select Test your connection under the Join button. It checks the signalling connection, the video channel and the backup relay and tells you if the network blocks video calls. The firewall guide covers office and school networks.
  • “This meeting has ended”. An instant meeting started on the free plan ends for good after the free hour. Ask the host for a new link.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to create an account to join a Meeto call?

No. A guest only needs the meeting link and a name. You do not sign up, verify an email or install anything. An account is only useful if you want to host your own scheduled meetings, a booking page or paid features.

Is joining free for guests?

Yes. Joining a Meeto call costs a guest nothing on any plan. The host's plan decides the meeting's limits, such as the number of participants and how long a free meeting can run.

Can I join from my phone without the app?

Yes. Open the link in Safari, Chrome or another current mobile browser and use the same lobby. The iOS and Android apps are optional; if one is installed, a Meeto link may open in it, with the same name field and Join meeting button.

Why does the button say Starts and a time?

The meeting is scheduled for later. The button shows the start time, with an Already started? Join now link underneath in case the host opened the room early.

Will the host see my email address?

Not from the lobby. A guest who joins by link gives only a display name. If the host invited you by email, the host already has the address they typed.
