Troubleshoot device access

Camera or microphone not working?

Most Meeto device problems come from a blocked browser permission, a microphone or camera already in use, a wrong selected device or a network policy. Follow these checks in order, then join with audio only or contact support if the device still cannot start.

Fix the camera or microphone step by step

  1. Check the lobby controls. Before joining, make sure the intended camera and microphone appear in the device controls and that their mute buttons are enabled when you need them.
  2. Allow the site. When your browser asks whether meeto.me can use the camera or microphone, choose Allow. If you previously chose Block, open the site-permission control beside the address bar, change the device setting and reload.
  3. Close competing apps. Quit another meeting, recording or camera app that may be holding the device. Then return to Meeto and reload the lobby.
  4. Try a known-good device. Plug in a headset or webcam if available and select it in the lobby. A short test with a second device separates a device fault from a browser setting.
  5. Join with a fallback. Turn video off and join with audio if the camera is the only problem. If both devices fail, contact support@meeto.me with your browser and operating system; never include a host secret.

Operating-system privacy

Check that the operating system allows your browser to access the camera and microphone. If the browser is missing from the permission list, close it, grant access and reopen the browser.

Selected input

Headsets and webcams can create a second input or output. Select the device you are actually wearing or looking at in the browser lobby, then speak and watch the local preview.

Browser state

Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari browser. Reload after changing permissions; a stale tab can keep the previous denial until it is refreshed.

For a guest who only needs to listen or speak, camera access is optional. Share the browser joining guide so the guest knows the camera can remain off.

When the device works but the call still fails

Try the same room from another permitted network, such as a home connection or phone hotspot, when your organisation allows it. A VPN, proxy or firewall can block real-time media while ordinary web pages still load. Ask the network administrator to review the policy rather than changing security controls you do not manage.

After the network test, return to the support page with the browser name and version, operating system, whether audio or video fails, and whether another network changed the result. Do not share a private meeting URL, host secret or recording.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Meeto say my camera or microphone is blocked?

The browser may have a blocked site permission, another app may be using the device or an operating-system privacy setting may deny access. Check the browser permission for meeto.me, close competing apps and then reload the lobby.

Can I join a video meeting without a camera?

Yes. A camera is optional for joining. Turn video off and use a microphone, or join with both devices off if the host and meeting allow it. A current desktop or mobile browser is still recommended.

What if the microphone works in another app but not Meeto?

That usually points to a site permission, selected-device or browser issue. Check that meeto.me is allowed to use the microphone, close the other app, select the intended input in the lobby and reload the page.

Could a work network prevent camera or microphone access?

A network policy can block real-time media even when the local devices work. Try a permitted network, disable a VPN only if your organisation allows it and ask the administrator to check the browser and media policy. Do not send private room links to support.
