Meeting link

What is a meeting link?

A meeting link is a web address that opens a specific online meeting room, so anyone who has it can join the call from a browser or app without searching for a meeting ID. Whoever has the link can reach the room, so how it is created, shared and protected decides who ends up in your call.

How does a meeting link work?

A meeting link is an ordinary web address with a room code at the end. The code is long and random enough that nobody can guess it, which is the first layer of protection. Opening the link loads the meeting's lobby, where the guest enters a name, checks the camera and microphone and joins.

The room behind the link has its own entry rule. It can be open, so anyone with the link walks in; it can ask for a password; or it can put people in a waiting room until the host lets them in. Some links carry the password inside them, so invited guests are let in without typing anything.

What kinds of meeting links are there?

Common kinds of meeting links
KindTypical use and lifetime
Instant linkA room created right now for a quick call; often meant for one conversation.
Scheduled linkTied to a meeting with a date and time, sent in the invitation; reusable for that meeting.
Recurring linkOne link for every date of a repeating meeting, such as a weekly team call.
Booking linkCreated for each appointment someone books on a booking page.

Treat any link like a key. Send it to the people who should join, avoid posting it publicly, and use a waiting room when it might be forwarded.

How do meeting links work in Meeto?

A Meeto room link looks like meeto.me/misty-fox-42: two short words and a number. Anyone can create one from the home page with “Start a new meeting”, without an account. Guests open it in a browser and join without an account or a download.

On the Free plan, an instant meeting's link expires after the free 60 minutes, which start once 2 or more people are in the call; if the host's account upgrades to Pro, the link works again. Links of scheduled meetings and bookings stay reusable. Instant meetings are open by default; scheduled and booked meetings use a password that is already inside the invitation link. The host can switch any room between Open, Knock and Password.

Your personal address, meeto.me/your-name, is a booking page rather than a room: people pick a time there and get a room link for that booking. The meeting link guide covers creating and sharing one.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if a meeting link was shared too widely?

During the call, switch the entry to Knock in the Participants panel so you approve everyone who arrives. If someone unwanted got in, use "Remove from call": they cannot rejoin that meeting. For the next meeting, create a new link.

Why does my Meeto link say the meeting has ended?

On the Free plan, an instant meeting's link stops working after the free 60 minutes, and the page says "This meeting has ended". Ask the host for a new link, or start your own meeting from the home page.

Can I use the same link every week?

Yes. Schedule a repeating meeting in your dashboard: the series keeps one link, and guests can open it for every date. The recurring meeting guide shows how.

Does opening a meeting link install anything?

No. A Meeto link opens the meeting in the browser. If the Meeto app is installed on a phone, the link can open the app instead, but the app is never required.
