Whereby alternatives

Whereby alternatives for browser video calls

Whereby's free plan allows 30-minute meetings for up to 4 people, and Pro costs $10.99 a month. Other tools that let guests join from the browser go further for free: Brave Talk has no time limit for 4 people, Jitsi Meet allows 95 minutes, and Meeto 60 minutes for up to 10. Each option's limits, price and catch are below, with sources.

What Whereby's free plan allows

Whereby runs meetings in the browser with no download and no login for guests[1]. The free plan allows meetings of up to 30 minutes[2] with 4 attendees[3]; Pro costs $10.99 a month for one host[4]. Whereby Meetings records locally on paid plans; cloud recording belongs to Whereby Embedded[5].

The browser experience is why people choose Whereby, so we put browser join first. If you embed Whereby in a website, look at Meeto's website widget as well, which is free on every plan.

How we chose these alternatives

Each product had to be available today and to publish its limits on its own pages. We compared them on the same points:

What we checked for every product
CriterionWhat we looked at
Browser joinWhether a guest joins from a link in the browser, with no app and no account — the reason most people pick Whereby.
Free time limitHow long a free meeting runs.
Free participantsHow many people fit in a free meeting.
RecordingWhether the product records to the cloud, and on which plan.
PriceThe cheapest paid plan in USD, with its billing period.

This page is published by Meeto, one of the products on it. Meeto's limits are printed as plainly as the others', including what it does not do. No vendor paid to be listed, and there are no affiliate links.

Products appear in alphabetical order; this is not a ranking. Every figure about another product links to the vendor's own page, quoted as read on November 3, 2026.

What to check before you switch from Whereby

  1. Room links. Whereby gives you a fixed room address. In Meeto, scheduled meetings and booking links stay reusable, while an instant room's link expires after the free hour. Decide which link you will send to regular guests.
  2. Encryption. If you rely on end-to-end encryption in small rooms, note that Meeto does not offer it; see the security overview for what it does do.
  3. The guest path. Open a test link on a phone with no account signed in. A Meeto guest goes from the link to the call in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

Which Whereby alternative works in the browser without an account?

Every product here lets guests join from a browser without an account. On Google Meet a guest without a Google Account waits for someone to admit them, and on Jitsi Meet the person who creates the room must sign in. Meeto lets guests straight in by default; the host can switch a room to knock-to-enter or a password.

Is there a free Whereby alternative with longer meetings?

Yes. Brave Talk has no time limit for up to 4 people, Jitsi Meet allows 95 minutes, and Google Meet, Teams free, Zoho Meeting and Meeto allow 60-minute group meetings. Whereby's free plan allows 30 minutes.

I use Whereby Embedded on my website. What are the options?

Whereby Embedded is a developer product priced by participant minutes. Meeto's website widget and SDKs are free on every plan, with a public key locked to your allowed domains; the “Powered by Meeto” badge always stays. See the widget and developer pages for how it works.

Is Meeto cheaper than Whereby?

Meeto Pro costs $6.99 a month or $69 a year for one account. Whereby Pro costs $10.99 a month for 1 host, excluding VAT. Whereby offers end-to-end encryption in small rooms; Meeto does not.
