Google Meet alternatives

Google Meet alternatives for hosts without a Google Account

A free Google Meet group call ends at 60 minutes, and the host needs a Google Account. Microsoft Teams free, Zoho Meeting and Meeto allow the same hour without Google; Jitsi Meet allows 95 minutes; Zoom and Webex stop at 40. Meeto adds browser join with no account for anyone, for up to 10 people. Each option's limits, price and catch are below, with sources.

What Google Meet's free plan allows

With a personal Google Account, a meeting with 3 or more people can last 60 minutes[1], and a one-on-one meeting up to 24 hours[2]. Everyone hears a chime at 50 minutes[3], and only the host can extend the meeting, by upgrading their Google account[4]. Guests can join without a Google Account, but someone has to let them in[5].

Those limits suit many people. Hosts look elsewhere when they do not want a Google Account, when group calls run past the hour, or when they need recording without paying for Business Standard. Our guide to the Google Meet time limit covers the limit itself.

How we chose these alternatives

Each product had to be available today and to publish its limits on its own pages. We compared them on the same points:

What we checked for every product
CriterionWhat we looked at
Free time limitHow long a free meeting runs, for groups and for one-on-one calls, as the vendor states it.
Free participantsHow many people the free plan lets into one meeting.
Guests without an accountWhether invited people can join without signing up.
Browser joinWhether a guest can join from a browser without installing an app.
RecordingWhich plan records to the cloud, and what the free plan offers instead.
PriceThe cheapest paid plan in USD as the vendor's pricing page lists it, with its billing period.

This page is published by Meeto, one of the products on it. Meeto's limits are printed as plainly as the others', including what it does not do. No vendor paid to be listed, and there are no affiliate links.

Products appear in alphabetical order; this is not a ranking. Every figure about another product links to the vendor's own page, quoted as read on November 3, 2026.

What to check before you move off Google Meet

  1. Who hosts. If the people who start meetings have Google Workspace at work, the limits above may not apply to them; check their edition first.
  2. Calendar invitations. Google Calendar adds a Meet link to events by default. With another tool, put its link in the event instead, or let guests book through a booking page that creates the meeting for them.
  3. The guest path. Send a test link to someone on a phone without a Google Account and watch where they get stuck. A Meeto guest opens the link and joins in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Google Meet alternative that does not need a Google Account?

Yes. None of the alternatives above requires a Google Account. Jitsi Meet asks whoever creates a room to sign in, and Zoho Meeting requires an account only for hosts. With Meeto anyone can start an instant meeting without any account; an account is needed for scheduled meetings, a booking page and the paid plans.

Which alternative allows longer free group meetings than Google Meet?

Jitsi Meet allows 95 minutes per meeting on meet.jit.si. Microsoft Teams free, Zoho Meeting and Meeto match Google Meet's 60 minutes; Zoom and Webex are shorter. Brave Talk, in our free video conferencing list, has no time limit for up to 4 people.

Why do guests wait to be let in on Google Meet?

Google lets a guest without a Google Account join, but the organizer or a participant has to admit them. Meeto lets guests in directly by default; a host who wants approval can turn on knock-to-enter or a password.

Can I keep Google Calendar if I switch from Google Meet?

Yes. Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Meeto all work alongside Google Calendar. Meeto can connect a Google calendar to check busy times and add booked meetings to it.
