Microsoft Teams alternatives

Microsoft Teams alternatives for simple video meetings

Teams free allows 60-minute group meetings for up to 100 people but no recording; Teams Essentials costs $4 per user a month, paid yearly. If you only need meetings, Google Meet, Zoho Meeting and Meeto give the same free hour; Zoom, Webex and GoTo Meeting stop at 40 minutes; Jitsi Meet at 95. Below: limits, price and catch for each, sourced.

What Microsoft Teams free includes

Teams free allows group meetings of up to 60 minutes[1] with up to 100 participants[2] and 5 GB of file storage[3], but no meeting recordings[4]. Intelligent recap needs a Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot license[5], and end-to-end encrypted meetings need Teams Premium for the organizer[6].

Teams is a workplace app: chat, files and meetings together. Many people only need the meetings part, often with clients who do not use Teams. The alternatives below are mostly meeting tools. The Teams free limits guide explains what the free plan covers.

How we chose these alternatives

Each product had to be available today and to publish its limits on its own pages. We compared them on the same points:

Free participantsHow many people the free plan lets into one meeting.
Guests without an accountWhether invited people can join without signing up.
Browser joinWhether a guest can join from a browser without installing an app.

This page is published by Meeto, one of the products on it. Meeto's limits are printed as plainly as the others', including what it does not do. No vendor paid to be listed, and there are no affiliate links.

Products appear in alphabetical order; this is not a ranking. Every figure about another product links to the vendor's own page, quoted as read on November 3, 2026.

What to check before you replace Teams meetings

  1. What you use besides meetings. If your team lives in Teams chat and files, a meeting tool replaces only the calls. Keep that in mind when you compare prices.
  2. Your calendar. Teams meetings are created from Outlook. Most alternatives give you a link to paste into any invitation; Meeto can also send its own invitations and booking pages, with Google or Apple calendars connected.
  3. Recording rules. Decide who may record and where recordings live before you move. Meeto records only on paid plans, shows everyone an indicator, and keeps media for 90 days; see meeting recording.

Frequently asked questions

Is Microsoft Teams free really free?

Yes, for personal use: group meetings of up to 60 minutes with up to 100 people, without recording. Teams Essentials, the cheapest business plan, costs $4 per user a month on a yearly subscription. Our guide to the Teams free limits has the details.

Which Teams alternative is best for meeting clients outside the company?

A browser tool whose guests need no account: every product on this page lets invited guests join without signing up. With Meeto, Whereby or Jitsi Meet the guest opens a link and is in the call in the browser; Meeto lets the host require approval or a password when needed.

Can I use another meeting tool and keep Outlook?

Yes. Paste the other tool's meeting link into the Outlook invitation. Note that Meeto connects Google and Apple (CalDAV) calendars only; it cannot read an Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendar for availability.

Which alternative includes recording on the cheapest plan?

Zoom Pro, Webex Meet, Teams Essentials, Zoho Meeting Standard and Meeto Pro all include cloud recording. Google Workspace Business Starter and GoTo Meeting Professional do not; on GoTo it starts with Business. On free plans, Zoom and Webex record only to your computer.
